Red Fire Box

Submitted by Joe Brunold
Have you ever wondered what the red 3”X5” box by your front door does? It is a reset for your fire alarm system. If all your fire alarms go off for no apparent reason, this is where to go to turn them off. It is connected to the alarm on the front of your garage and the whole system goes no where else.

Steps to Reset Your Fire Alarms using the Red Fire Box
Insert the allen wrench (originally provided with your home), in the red box and turn the screw. Some red boxes require you to lift the sleeve up to its original position. This will turn off the alarm. Some of you may have to pull the Red cover off to insert the allen wrench. It is a good idea to leave the wrench on the top of your Red Box. It will save time if the alarm needs to be reset.

If you own one of the original 14 manufactured homes, there is no Red Fire Box in your home.
